The Secret Movie has been a very inspiring production that has, as usual in our complex society, polarized people along the lines of hopeful optimists and pessimistic skeptics. That’s okay, because controversy feeds publicity. Every time a skeptic complains or states that they’re not buying it, they introduce the concept to a multitude of new people.
I’m not here to convince anyone of anything. I just state my case, or tell my narrative, and you can decide whether it merits any further consideration. I know what I have experienced in my life and I know what is real vs what is just coincidence.
What I can say about The Secret movie, other than it is inspirational, is that when I first watched it, I was stuck in the job mentality. In other words, I had a regular job, just that job. It wasn’t a sales job or anything that allowed me to make more money with more effort. The traditional type of job can provide more income with more work, but it’s never a sure thing and usually the raise, that YOU WAIT AT LEAST A YEAR FOR, is very low and many times more of an insult than a reward. It’s gotten so bad out there that there are some bosses who tell you that “at least you still have a job”, which is really almost as low as you can go without actually being fired or laid off.
I mentioned this in another article, but there is a point in The Secret movie where some, Australian guy I think, states that at one time he only expected bills in the mail and that’s all he got. When he started thinking about checks in the mail he started to get more of them than the bills. Well, that’s all fine and dandy, but you could pretty much see that he is in a sales or marketing type of profession so that was reasonable for him to shift his thinking in that way. I’m not saying that the philosophy behind The Secret movie wasn’t somehow at least partially responsible, but that the guy had a system in place that made the flow work out for him.
Do you see what I am getting at here?
THIS is where the missing link is for most people who watch that stuff and then say, “Well, that won’t work for me.”
It CAN work for you with certain adjustments!
My biggest problem, if you can call it that, with The Secret movie, is that they give you all the theory but not the practical application of the principles.
The Secret Movie – What They Should Have Told You
You can tell that I am talking here about the money stuff, right?
I mean, there were other parts of The Secret movie, but a whole section was about money, because most people realize that money helps to secure freedom and happiness. We can resist that notion all we want, by repeating sayings like “Money can’t buy happiness”, or “money isn’t everything”, but we soon come to realize that having more money would ease the stress, stop the worries, and provide a way to experience more in life, since in order to express appreciation for the many things that come with a price tag, more money is a necessity.
I’m sorry to break that to you, but it’s just a self-evident fact.
Sure, you can beat around the bush and say that you appreciate things that have no cost, like family and whatever, but you eventually realize that you need a new car, or you would like a bigger place to live, or you need more vacations, or whatever.
Sometimes it’s just that you need more rent money, or money to put away for the children’s education, or your own retirement.
What I am getting at here is that in order for the money part of the Secret movie equation to work for you, you need to set up a pathway for the money to flow into your life. In the movie, Joe Vitale said that when you submit your catalog order to the Universe, it has to be believable for you. Well, how believable is it that you have money flowing to you if all you have is a dead-end job that has a finite salary? Other than relying on something as chancy as the lottery, what else is there? Now, while it’s true that things in your reality can shift enough to create a way for money to come to you, say through you being named as a beneficiary in a will or something like that (and yes, even the lottery), wouldn’t it be great if you could create something a bit more certain in parallel? It can’t hurt, can it?
Years ago, none of this would have made any sense.
They didn’t have the connectivity or the resources that we have today. Today we have these fabulous computers and the worldwide internet which makes the flow of ideas and money seamless and easy.
What you must do is set up an internet business system that will provide that pathway. Of course it’s something that requires some effort, but what this means is that this is the bridge between the pie in the sky “magic” that The Secret movie sounds like to many and the skeptical community that says that something has to exist in the real world for any success to manifest in someone’s life.
I just call it hedging your bets.
The laws of attraction are real to a point. I can’t explain HOW they work, but I know that somehow our consciousness interfaces with something out there – an energy field that surrounds and engulfs everything. Call it the Universe or the Force. See, Star Wars was more real than you thought!
Now there are the atheists who reject all of this out of hand, without some double-blind study to confirm it, but do we really care what they think? I don’t. I don’t need a study to confirm things that I have experienced, and I don’t need to prove it. If this resonates with you then it does, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
I know that thoughts become things. I know that putting out thoughts combined with intense feelings gets the creative universal ball rolling in our favor.
I also know that there is no good and bad. There is creation, and it takes the same amount of creative power, from a cosmic standpoint, to create the life of a crack whore vs the life of a sophisticated urbanite.
The judgment as to what is good and what is bad is all from us, from our ego. That is a tough thing to resist, and even though I am writing this I battle my demons and fears daily, so I am not holding myself out as some perfect applier of these principles. It takes time, work, and discipline. The Secret movie makes it sound easier than it is when we are creating horrors all the time that scare us to death.
The Universe sees it all as the same since it’s just a different combination of atoms and energy.
So all it takes is a shift in thought plus a little push to make it all work.
A little push. You know, the little thing that separates the sane from the insane?
Haha. I love that movie.
I’ll say it as many times as it takes to drive home. If you want to experiment with this stuff, or even if you believe it but don’t know how to make the shift of making an increase in financial abundance believable for you, then you need to not only make that mental shift but set up a way for this to happen. The best way to accomplish this is to set up a business. You can choose from a multitude of businesses to start. Once you have that and you put some effort into it, then you can expect checks in the mail (or in your merchant account, Paypal, or whatever).
See how easy that is once you have the systems in place?
I’m telling you, there is so much opportunity out there that you don’t have to be a complainer or believe that you are at the mercy of forces beyond your control. If you take massive action then this stuff will work. Now, some of the skeptics will say, “Look, you took action – you did the same stuff that people have been doing for years! this is nothing new!” Well, it is and it isn’t.
The Secret movie tells us that when we shift our thinking and put the desire “out there” that things will start to rearrange in alignment with our desires IF we believe it and that believe is real. All I am saying is that how real can the belief that you will receive more money be without creating a basic pathway for the money to come to us? It’s a subtle thing but it can make all the difference in the world, er, the Universe.
If you’re ready to hear about the pathway that I have chosen, inspired in some part by The Secret movie, then come join me.
