Okay listen up, you have to have an off page seo strategy as well as an on page one. You have to be white hat about it or the Big G will slap your ass back to the stone age, so be careful and make sure you always try to make it content rich for the receiver.
Yes we all sometimes rush stuff out the door in order to make that new post, or sometimes we rush our back links effort because it takes so much damn time and effort.
I hear ya. Off page SEO is a bitch, but it has to be done. See my video on the subject, but know that it’s a rough idea and you can fill it in and shore it up any way you like if you’re smart like that. I just wanted to give an idea for the newbies who have no clue about it or that they even have to do it. This stuff plays a role in how your pages and site eventually ranks for your keywords, so it’s an important thang…
Hear me?
Hear this.
Off page SEO is something that you have to do so why not just suck it up and get started? I gave you a pretty good starting point in that video.
So what Wasn’t in the Off Page SEO video?
Well, I didn’t draw every Web 2.0 or high PR site, which would have been pretty much impossible anyway. I put in some of the most popular ones to give you an idea of what kinds of sites that you need pointing to each other and back to your page.
Another thing I noticed that I omitted was that you can have your YouTube videos not only pointing to and embedded in your target page, but you can also have them pointing to and embedded in your support blog pages on WordPress.com and Blogger, to name just two. Media is king and if your videos are good then by all means use them. I think it’s better to make unique videos for each project though, so if you can bang out an effective quick video for your Web 2.0 sites, then do that over using your main ones. time is always a factor here since it takes lots of hours to put all of this together.
Stay organized though. That is something that can help you in the long run.
As I mentioned in the video, not everyone is a fan of the Onlywire syndication gig, (Tribepro is now defunct, however) but in the beginning I say that it can’t hurt to get plenty of social and other shares of your content by other people who are doing so in a cooperative manner through that site.
You can read more up on SEO at Wikipedia, in case you are a complete newbie. That will open in a new window or tab so that you don’t lose your place here.
Off page SEO is the other half of your total SEO effort, so make sure that you don’t neglect it. getting your site out there and noticed, with good quality back links, is crucial.
Whenever you create links that are more than just share type links, make sure that you post quality information and avoid spammy comments with little value. You can spin your content but make sure that it’s spun in an intelligent way and doesn’t look too much like the original. It is better to read your own content first then do a complete from your head rewrite trying to be different or from another angle so that it doesn’t incur you any duplicate content penalties down the line.
I know that all of this off page SEO stuff may sound a bit overwhelming to the new blogger, but after awhile it becomes sort of second nature, so stick with it, stay organized, and keep plugging away.
That’s a screen shot of my video graphic for your reference.
Now this is basic stuff. This is just the minimum starting point for SEO, not the end game. Not by a long shot.
There are other more advanced backlinking strategies that you will also need to do, but they are beyond the scope of this article, and I doubt you’d even find them openly discussed. I looked for a long time and only found out when I associated with very successful people and there was an entry fee to have such information bestowed upon me. Even with that, it’s work.
Update: I also wanted to say that most Press Release sites are now NOFOLLOW thanks to Google bullying.
Remember, off page SEO is always evolving and you have to be willing to evolve with it or stagnate.
The best thing though is to create great and useful content for your readers, so I hope that this basic off page SEO article helped you out.
Update: Since making these videos and this page, Tribepro went defunct, Google+ isn’t really going anywhere great.
There are other ways to get traffic to your blog, which I will exploit in future blog posts, but I highly recommend learning how to use Pinterest and Flipboard. You can get lots of traffic tat way if you do it correctly. (not spammy)
