It’s a funny thing. You know, this time of year.
Everyone has the New Year’s Resolution thing, and you’ll see the “Year in Rewind” thing done about a gazillion times on the various television networks. If you’re like many people, it’ll nudge you to create one or more of your own. It also might annoy you when you think of last year’s resolutions that went into the great bin bucket (or bit bucket, if you’re a nerd like me) of life.
Maybe you made a resolution to get thinner, to lose excess weight. Hey, I’m with ya there. If there is anything about the “digital lifestyle” that doesn’t agree with my slow metabolism, it’s sitting in front of a laptop banging on keys all day. There isn’t much caloric expenditure in that.
Perhaps last year you thought that by now you’d be this much (holding fingers a hair apart) closer to your goal of financial independence, only to have factors beyond your control force that dream to a crashing mess before your eyes. Perhaps another Google search algorithm change put your ideas further into the SERPs so that less organic traffic and hence less prospects came your way. Maybe it was an unexpected layoff from your job that left your catching up for awhile. Maybe it was relationship issues. Doesn’t really matter, does it?
What do I mean by that?
Well, the past is the past.
Let it go.
If you dwell on past things that were mostly beyond your control anyway, then you’re just wasting time NOW.
Get on with it, will ya?
You can’t change things that weren’t under your control, so pondering them is just a soul sucking exercise in futility.
What you can ponder are the things that you could control. You know, the things that you chose to do or not do that landed you in a weaker position or perhaps in not the best position compared to where you really want to be.
This is where retrospection matters and can be a force for positive change in your life.
Maybe you were overly negative or taking “being realistic” to ridiculous levels? Maybe you got lazy and forgot that taking action is a necessity for those who seek positive change. Maybe you just got too caught up in the regular daily grind and put your dreams on the back burner.
Whatever it is or was, that’s then and this is now.
It’s a fresh new beginning.
The thing about the New Year is like this… It’s a new page, a new book, a new chapter in the book that is your journey through life.
Keep this in mind as you rededicate yourself to realizing your dreams.
Okay so where’s a good place to start?
Well that’s ultimately up to you but I can suggest.
If you don’t already blog, start blogging.
Why?
You need an online presence in this world and a “home base”, so to speak. No matter what your business is, you need a site and the blogging functionality allows you to update it quickly any time and keep your audience informed of any new developments, new ideas that you want to convey, or anything pertinent.
Google LOVES blogs. Blogs are living sites and much more likely to be updated regularly. When they do update, they have a mechanism to notify the search engines that there was an update so that indexing is assured.
There’s just so many reasons to blog that to list them all would be an article in and of itself.
I just want to impress upon you and reinforce the need to do that.
It’s something that you can do TODAY.
You can do it on many different platforms.
Yeah the free ones are great for what they are, but I suggest the ones that help to finance your dreams.
Listen, as great as WordPress, Blogger, and some others are, all they will let you do, for the most part, is publish your ideas.
That’s it.
Like I always tell people, blogging is great, but if you can make it pay for itself or more, then you really have hit upon something great.
WordPress and Blogger won’t pay you hundreds or thousands of dollars for your blogging, but my method can do that over some time.
Join my blogging team and let’s get to it!
Back to New Year’s Resolutions…
You can resolve to do anything.
You can stay put and struggle through life.
You can resolve to become financially independent.
You can resolve to be the best parent, partner, spouse, or professional (or anything) that you can be.
Then comes the Action part. Take Action.
Take Massive Action.
Take Action Daily.
Break it up into small parts and go with it.
You will be surprised at where you might be a year from now when you once again see the year in review on TV and read about all of this New Year’s Resolutions stuff.
So remember, don’t beat yourself up over past failures.
That accomplishes nothing.
Move forward, Take Action.
Move ahead.
Earn success!
