If you were wondering how to make a banner for your website, but you aren’t a digital artist or other slick web 2.0 professional, fear not. I will teach you how you can start doing this inside of a half hour with free tools.
It’s not hard.
Of course someone with a digital artist background can produce much nicer work, but you would be surprised at what you can produce with some practice. Just check out what i created with photos from the internet and a free program, and some time.
I run into a slight snag in the middle, but it sorts itself out. This goes to show you that you can’t get discouraged when you hit problems. Just work through the problems and pretty soon you’ll be able to reteach how to make a banner to others who need to learn it. (or just point them here!)
How to Make a Banner is Easy Stuff
See? Wasn’t that easy?
I told you that I could teach you how to make a banner in short order. There is is. Watch it over again.
The program I used is a free Windows download. If you have a Mac I’m sure there are plenty of freebies to choose from with similar features.
Anyway, the program that I used is Paint.net. Yes, they actually put a “.net” as part of the program name, but I bet that it helps people know exactly where to go to get the latest version. Brilliant! Well, that isn’t the full URL, so I am not sure how brillaint it is, but I put the correct URL as the link so you get to the right place.
When learning how to make a banner, you just have to remember that you can’t mess up. You get your starting materials, various photos etc, and you software, and then you start playing. You can use these banners everywhere. If you make them the right size you can create them for your YouTube channel, or your FaceBook wall, or any application where a large banner type of graphic is needed.
The possibilities are endless.
Once you start on that, you can do all sorts of graphics work in a program like Paint.net. You can also try other programs like it. Right off the bat I can think of another free program called the Gimp. The Gimp is another free photo editing app that has many features. You can even use things you learn with these programs in expensive commercial apps like Adobe Photoshop.
I actually have a corporate version of Photoshop, and I can tell you that I actually prefer the smaller free apps for quick and dirty jobs like teaching people how to make a banner. Well, not just for teaching. I have made my own banners with them as well which is what gave me the idea to make a video and a blog post about it.
I use banners on my blog, and I use this blog to teach people lots of things about running a blog website and doing what needs to be done to keep it running smoothly.
The best part of it all is using the blog to open up an income stream so that it eventually pays for itself, so if you feel inclined you can go on and read up on that as well.
So, I hope that this tutorial on how to make a banner has helped. If it has helped, please share it and comment below. Let me know what else you would like to know and if it is something I can assist with maybe I will create a post and video on that as well.
Until then, good health!
